PROPOSAL TO THE CHILDREN : A POETRY CONTEST

We suggest :
1) You organise a poetry contest (jury and prizegiving) in your school, your association, your village, your town or your country.
2) To take the rules given hereunder as an example.
To send us a report of what you have achieved (see items A and B).

Example of the rules

The participants in the poetry contest are requested to follow the rules below :

  1. The contest is intended for children under thirteen years of age.
  2. Teacher’s and educators encourage their pupils to think about the theme :
    "DRUMS FOR PEACE”
  3. Children should write and illustrate a poem on the above theme. Although the jury will only select a poem, it would be nice if the poems could be illustrated (by a drawing, painting, collage, etc.) and be stuck on strong paper (or cardboard) enabling an easy presentation and sufficient protection during exhibitions which we will organize in Brussels.
  4. Participants are requested to indicate on the back of the sheet their family name, Christian name, age, as well as the name, address, and telephone number of their school and teacher.
  5. The poems must be submitted or be sent to the address selected by the local organizers.
  6. On receipt of the poems an acknowledgement of receipt will be sent.
  7. Poems will be submitted to a local jury who will select the prizewinner and 20 poems.
  8. Only the winners will be personally informed by the Secretariat of the jury

The prize offered to the winner shall enable him (or her) to have an unforgettable moment. We wish that the winner be celebrated in her/his school and hosted by a major representative of his (or her) region.

RELATIONSHIP WITH
THE INTERNATIONAL POETRY-CHILDHOOD DAY

  • A We would appreciate receiving a report of the event, the text of the prizewinner’s poem and the 20 selected illustrated poems.
